This Christmas card shows the Director of Wessex Institute as Santa, riding across the sky above the Institute’s campus, Ashurst Lodge.
As the campus is in the heart of the New Forest, it seemed appropriate for our Santa to have local fallow deer to pull his sleigh. The deer were three bucks who visited our part of the forest for a couple of weeks in Autumn for several years in a row. The aerial view of the campus, used elsewhere on the Wessex Institute’s brochure (in the ‘Leaflets & Booklet’ section of this website), has been turned into a snow-scene in Photoshop. The sleigh was a piece of furniture with curved elements which we found in storage at the lodge.
